Statement by the National Executive of the Galizan Nationalist Bloc (BNG) regarding the attack on Iran by the USA and Israel

Donald Trump

The National Executive of the Galizan Nationalist Bloc (BNG) condemns the military attack launched by the United States and Israel against Iran. This new act of aggression puts the lives of civilians and the stability of the entire Middle East at risk and constitutes a new violation of the sovereignty of the peoples, international law and the United Nations Charter.

We express our full solidarity with the Iranian people and with all peoples who suffer the scourge of imperialism and its allies and we reiterate our commitment to peace, disarmament, negotiated conflict resolution and anti-militarism.

The BNG denounces the fact that imperialism has yet again resorted to lies and manipulation in order to legitimise its warmongering. As on previous occasions, the USA and Israel (the only country in the region not to have signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty) have hidden behind false excuses such as an alleged “imminent threat,” human rights violations or the lack of democracy to justify an attack that actually only seeks to seize the region’s enormous energy resources and to take geostrategic control.

This follows the same pattern already seen in Iraq, Libya, Syria and the on-going attacks, occupation and apartheid against Palestine:

  • First, a media narrative is created based on dubious or wholly fabricated information.
  • Then, criminal sanctions are imposed that strangle the local population.
  • Finally, military violence is unleashed with no regard for international law.

History repeats itself once again. The same people who sold us the Iraq war with their lies of weapons of mass destruction are now inventing new threats to justify their renewed attacks. Imperialism doesn’t need truth, only excuses to continue profiting from war.

These air-attacks are not an isolated incident but are part of a systematic pattern of action carried out by US-led imperialism and its allies. This new offensive against Iran is part of a dangerous escalation of deliberate violence. In a little over a year, they have bombed almost a dozen countries on four continents: Palestine, Venezuela, Syria, Iraq, Iran, Nigeria, Yemen, Somalia, Qatar, Lebanon and Tunisia, while not forgetting the on-going criminal blockade of Cuba. They are the main cause of global destabilisation and pose a direct threat to multilateralism and international law.

The imperialist strategy is one of permanent war, chaos and domination, vying to control strategic resources and seeking to impose its geopolitical interests by force, riding roughshod over the sovereignty of nations and the right of peoples to decide their own destiny. This new aggression will have dire and unpredictable consequences, not last for the Iranian population, but also by destabilising the entire Middle East and creating an imminent risk of all-out war, leading to a new global energy crisis to be paid for by the working classes whilst dealing a blow to international law, effectively undermining any possibility of dialogue and legitimising the idea that might is right.

The BNG calls upon the international community, and in particular the European Union, the Spanish State and the Galizan Government, to condemn this unjustified military aggression against Iran which contravenes international law and the criminal imperialist policy of war and military intervention and to take firm action to demand an end to the aggression.

The BNG calls on the Government of the Spanish State to deny the use of military bases in the Spanish State for these operations and to take the lead within the European Union by adopting a firm stance in favour of peace and condemning the attack.
