The coordinated attack by the Zionist State of Israel and the US against Iran represents a further escalation of the war in the Middle East and poses a direct threat to international peace and security. These attacks constitute yet another unilateral action in breach of international law and a flagrant violation of the UN Charter, following on in the wake of previous imperialist aggressions against Syria, Yemen, and Lebanon, all part of a strategy of terror and destruction that has its maximum expression in the brutal genocide underway in Gaza and the ethnic cleansing and apartheid regime in place throughout the whole of Palestine.

These criminal actions which also target critical security elements such as nuclear facilities are part of a military escalation deployed by the US as an imperialist power in an attempt maintain is dominant world position challenged by the emergence of an increasingly multipolar world led by other actors and blocs that threaten its global control.

The European Union through its failure to respond and NATO through its ongoing complicity have shown themselves to be instruments subservient to the imperialist designs of the US and its war industry, as evidenced by the demand for an unwarranted increase in military and arms spending that goes against the interests of society at large and which we staunchly oppose.

In line with our pacifist and anti-imperialist principles, the Galizan Nationalist Bloc rejects this new military aggression and calls for decisive action in favour of peace: a peace that respects human rights and the sovereignty of peoples as a prerequisite, with a commitment to multilateral relations based on diplomacy, cooperation and engagement.

We therefore demand that the Spanish government refrains from participating either directly or indirectly in this escalation, maintaining a position of active neutrality and that it denies the use of its airspace and the military bases located around the Spanish State for this type of action as a preliminary step towards their definitive dismantling together with adopting measures to demobilise military units such as the frigate Méndez Núñez (F-104).

We also repeat our demand to leave NATO, which serves as the armed wing of imperialism and represents a clear threat to the peoples of the world, peace, and security and also call upon the Galizan government to act and take a clear stance in these same terms in favour of military de-escalation and peace.

We call upon all of the Galizan people to express its outright rejection of this warmongering escalation by taking part in the anti-war demonstrations called by the Galizan Platform for Peace for Thursday 26 June. Faced with the risk of being drawn into a new unjust war, we say loud and clear: NOT IN OUR NAME! NO TO WAR!
